Your Pain Isn't Physical, It's Political (kind of)
You ever feel like the world is on fire and someone handed you a water gun?

You ever feel like the world is on fire and someone handed you a water gun with a broken trigger?
Yeah. Me too.
Lately, a lot of my clients have been showing up with a quiet (or not-so-quiet) heaviness. They’re worried about the future—maybe they’ve been told their contract is “under review,” or a friend just got let go. They’re trying to do everything right, and still feeling anxious, stuck, and on the verge of collapse.
And you know what? That stress doesn’t just live in your thoughts. It sets up camp in your shoulders, your gut, your sleep, and your knees. (Yes, even your knees. Stress is petty like that. Stress is like glitter—it gets everywhere, and it sticks around way longer than you'd like.) But it's not inevitable. If you want to learn more about what you can do about it, read on.

The Circle of Control (Or: Where Your Real Leverage Lives)
Think of your life like a system. There are variables you can control, ones you can influence, and others that just hit your inbox whether you like it or not. We call this the Spheres of Control framework. It’s simple, but it works—especially when the world feels like it's running on an unstable operating system.
Here’s the breakdown:
- Your circle of control: This is your direct input—what you eat, how you move, how you breathe, how you speak to others (and yourself), and how you show up each day. These are the levers you can actually pull.
- Your circle of influence: Think of your team, your kids, your spouse, your church group, or community. You can’t control these people or outcomes (no matter how much you may be trying), but your actions *do* affect them. There’s feedback here—but it’s not always immediate.
- Everything else: The job market. Contract renewals. Political changes. Budget cuts. Leadership decisions made several org-charts above your head. Basically, the stuff that pings your anxiety but doesn’t respond to your keyboard commands.
Right now, that outer circle feels really loud. It’s full of potential instability—maybe you’re worried about a layoff, or your coworker just lost their contract and you’re not sure what’s next.
But here’s the reality:
The choices you make today—what you eat, how you move, how you breathe, how you relate to people—will affect your health, performance, and peace of mind *far* more than anything a high-ranking official decides.
Cross stitch that on a pillow and recite it every day until it's programed into your hard drive. The small decision you make everyday affect your health and your everyday life, far more than the headlines.
So you can’t control every variable. But you’re not powerless either.
You still have agency. You still have data. And you still have access to the one system you can optimize—yourself.
Let’s start there.
